Unlike other communities its size, Stanly County boasts good
restaurants, schools, recreational opportunities (water sports
and some of the best golf in the state) as well as neighborhoods
to suit anyone's taste. Residents appreciate living in a small
community where the standard of living is high, but access
to metropolitan Charlotte - home of the NFL Panthers - is
less than an hour away.
Besides being a top-notch business environment, Stanly County
is also known as the backyard playground of rapidly urbanizing
North Carolina. With 10,000 acres of lakes and 175 miles of
scenic shoreline, Vacation magazine named it one of
the country's top 10 undiscovered lake areas.
The Uwharrie
National Forest, which includes some 46,000 acres, contains
some of the oldest mountains in North America and is adjacent
to a growing and magnificent lake/golf community - Uwharrie
Point. This gated community overlooks the 5,300 acres
of Badin Lake and includes a Tom Fazio-designed golf course,
rated among the top five private courses by Golf Digest.
Professional sports in nearby Charlotte include the NFL Carolina
Panthers and Triple A Baseball. Thousands of people each
year also take advantage of world-famous NASCAR racing at
Lowes Motor Speedway located in Concord.
The beautiful North and South Carolina coasts are just three
hours away as are the beautiful vistas of the Blue
Ridge Mountains.
