With over 54 percent of the US population living within a 650-mile radius of Charlotte, the region is America's fifth largest trading area. When it comes to transportation, there is nothing the state or Stanly County doesn't offer.

Interstate, Rail, Sea And Air Transportation

Employers rest easy knowing their products are easily transported by interstate, rail, sea or air. With easy access to Interstates 85 and 77, transportation is never an issue. The North Carolina State Ports Authority in Wilmington is just a few hours away as are the rapidly expan
ding ports in Morehead City, Charleston and Savannah. Major rail lines including CSX and Norfolk Southern also crisscross the county.

Stanly County is only 42 miles north of the financial hub of Charlotte and home to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport - one of the nation's finest international airports with more than 500 daily departures.

A Local Airport with Advanced Capabilities

Corporate executives continue to utilize the growing capabilities of the Albemarle Stanly County Airport - one of the most advanced community airports in the state. Featuring a 5,500-foot runway and a sophisticated Instrument Landing System, the local airport can accommodate military cargo jets and more than 60 private, corporate jets. A full-length parallel taxi runway was recently completed, and in October 1998, the airport began control tower operations. Capable of handling Boeing 737-300 aircraft as well as C-17 cargo planes, the Albemarle-Stanly County Airport offers the lowest fuel prices in the southeast and a full service certified repair station for aircraft maintenance.
